Have an event coming up you’re looking to spread the word about?

Send an email to events@xray.fm to see how we can help!

When emailing please include:

  1. Any relevant info about the event (dates/times, location, ticket links, info sheets etc.)
  2. What you're looking for from us, preferably in the subject or early in the email.* This could be things like being a media sponsor, paid underwriting packages, inviting us to attend, PSAs* AV services, getting an on-air interview, booking an XRAY DJ, having us be present there, etc.
  3. Who this event is for, so that we can place it appropriately on our schedule. If music, let us know the general genre/style. If non-music, what topics will someone that goes to this care about?

Timeline: For those new to working with us, without an established event promotion relationship or agreement, we need to receive your submission at least three weeks prior to your event for inclusion on our events calendar or newsletter, and preferably six weeks if you are interested in a radio spot about your event (i.e. underwriting). We are unlikely to consider last minute requests.

Please Note: We have a very limited capacity and unfortunately cannot accommodate all requests. The clearer your ask and the more obvious of a fit with our programming and/or mission, the more likely we'll prioritize it. We unfortunately cannot respond to every request, but welcome you nudging/following up with us to get it on our radar if it's a good fit and we haven't replied.

*Only nonprofits and/or things benefitting the wider community (such as something like demonstrations, disaster relief, mutual aid campaigns, etc.) are eligible for PSAs typically, with anything else being up to our discretion and typically done on media trade, paid campaigns, or as an act of good will because we feel strongly about something. All scripts need to be approved by us for our FCC compliance standards--even if a recorded file already exists.

Diositopes with support from Proqxis & KUMA

Diositopes:
Diositopes is the feverently evolving project of SQ and Zachary Pitnick. The two-piece began in 2021 and has incorporated elements spanning diverse, even opposing, musical genres. At its core, Diositopes is frequency worship focusing on the somatic experience of sound, with an emphasis on heaviness, noise, and color to explore the diverse ranges of catharsis. Comprising of SQ's simple minimal electronica set up ontop an unearthly vocal performance in counterpart with Pitnick’s noise bass amplification cranked to 11, the eccentric project has made audiences voyage to the strangest corners of the soul.

Diositopes' new project, Snake Recognize Snake, will be performed on this night. Many of these songs will not be played live again, in line with the project's sole focus on genre-bending, demolition, and experimenting that has garnered a cult-like status in Portland..

Proqxis:

Divergent approaches to rhythm and harmonics coupled with counterintuitive methods result in bifurcations enumerative…

'Proqxis' coalesces as an idea (proxy) embodied in biosphere & noosphere type strata of influence. The term was applied temporarily to a collective circa 2002-2004 and was adapted by the individual self-contraction to modes of expression, whether modeling concatenations of second-order cybernetics, or recognizing the ways in which subjective experience, especially when filtered and distributed through synesthesia, can be leveraged to dissolve domain dependency with regard to musical influences, theory, live performance arrangement and composition.

KUMA:
KUMA uses imagery, samples, pedals , synths and various metal objects to generate a chaotic soundscape of textures and sounds.

Layered into this chaos is a multifaceted narrative, a mythos about identity, afrofuturism, ancestry, esoteric/occult science, cultural trauma and the industrialization the planet - This is “The Myth of KUMA: The Metal Dragon”

About TOPS:

Musicians David Carriere, Jane Penny, Marta Cikojevic, and Riley Fleck — write timeless music that reliably threads immediacy and depth. Bury the Key, their first full-length since 2020 and with new label home Ghostly International, is a captivating reintroduction for the Montréal band: ever refined, undoubtedly masters of their melodic craft yet unafraid of evolving and testing themselves against different, at times darker tones. The album faces feelings once locked away, engaging the give-and-take between happiness, hedonism, and self-destruction. While often inhabited by fictional figures, their glowing, grooving, self-produced songs draw from personal observations: intimacy (both inside and outside the band), toxic behavior, drug use, and apocalyptic dread. When recording started, they noticed a shift and leaned in, jokingly dubbed “evil TOPS,” says Penny. “We’re always kind of seen as a soft band or like naive or friendly in a Canadian way, but we made it a challenge to really channel the world around us.” Through the lens of a looming epoch and the clarity that comes with age, TOPS dip into a more sinister disco realm with Bury the Key, giving their soft-focus sophisti-pop a sharpened edge.

About Frankie Cosmos:

Different Talking, the sixth and, so far, best album by NYC indie-rock four-piece Frankie Cosmos, seems to exist across time and space, as we all kind of do. It’s a collection of fragments and memories, remembered places, and reinterpreted feelings that adds up to a lucent, humming whole: a sturdy, worldly indie-rock record about aging and the passage of time that nonetheless manages to feel sharply current.

Frankie Cosmos lead singer, guitarist, and songwriter Greta Kline has long been heralded as one of contemporary indie music’s most deft and most necessary writers, but on Different Talking, her lyrics soften out slightly, the wry cynicism that defined recent records now giving way to an acknowledgment of the awesome, and necessary, fallibility of the human brain and heart.

To classify Different Talking as a return to form, or at least a return to the lush directness of earlier Frankie Cosmos records, would be rude but also wholly incorrect: as Different Talking makes clear, you can never return to the comfort and bravery of your early twenties, but that person always kind of lives inside you, no matter how much you change. Different Talking is about finding that person, honoring them, and learning from them. “A lot of the album is about being grown up and figuring out how to know yourself – like, ‘What is moving on?’” says Kline. “How do we move on when we’re addicted to a cycle of haunting our own past? Writing songs is just the way through that.”
