Head Full of Bees
Head Full of Bees is meticulously crafted as the musical equivalent of a rollercoaster ride – propulsive, unpredictable, and exhilarating. It is music unconstrained by genre or label; songs untethered from trends or expiration dates. Drawing on sounds from every corner of the world, the show transcends style, language, release era, and any other attempt at categorization. This is music that’s loud, innovative, quiet, new, old, classic, challenging, accessible, obscure, and massively popular. Good songs that refuse to be boxed in. So, buckle up and prepare to take the manic ride!
Show host Kevin Murphy discovered his parents’ Beatles records in 1979 and has been enthusiastically falling down musical rabbit holes ever since. A Camas transplant via San Diego, Austin, Memphis, Amsterdam, Seattle, Dallas, and Prague, He spent the ’90s masquerading as a professional musician in bands like Farside and 411. These days, his creative outlet is making playlists for friends that are intentionally eclectic and enthusiastically all over the map. His goal isn’t to prove how cool his taste is (because it’s not) but to share songs he genuinely loves, regardless of genre or decade. It’s taken a long time for him to accept, but labels, as it turns out, are mostly nonsense. A good song is a good song.
