Foodville
How Foodville Began
I co-hosted a show about food on KBOO radio in Portland (90.7 FM) called The Food Show back in the late 90’s and enjoyed every minute.
I truly feel that connecting the food community: the farmers, the chefs, the food advocates, among others, contributed in a positive way to the food scene in Portland.
Everyone seems to have an idea or opinion about food, how to grow it or raise it, what one should or should not eat, or how to prepare it.
These opinions have the ability to divide or unite people.
How does a vegan connect with a carnivore, a farmer with a land developer?
In a way, all of our decisions affect our food sources and food security.
Foodville wants to have the conversations that open our minds to the “other”, perhaps even find some common ground and focus on some of the pressing food centered issues of our time.
Please reach out with your feedback and ideas.
Foodville belongs to you, the community.
Marliese has been a foodie since way back in the day.
When she was young she made many a lip-smacking bowl of pork and beans, experimented with bologna soup, made vanilla milk turn to chocolate and will always be fondly remembered for the famous Mayonnaise cake she made for her Dad’s 36th Birthday.
Her critics said it tasted like a ham sandwich, but she forged ahead.
She sees community radio as a vital forcefor the good in the world and has a passion for connecting real people with real people.
