Annual Amplify Women Teach-In
Radio is an industry that continues to exclude women and those with intersecting experiences of marginalization. It’s XRAY’s goal to hold a mic up to those systemically excluded from radio, 365 days a year—and one day each year, on International Women’s Day, we pre-empt all regular radio programming to celebrate those values. We call this radio teach-in “Amplify Women.”
Amplify Women is a time to bring conversations centering women into sharper focus, with particular attention to BIPOC, trans, queer, immigrant, poor, working-class, and disabled women. All throughout the day, different voices from our community take the mic—in pairs, groups, panels, or solo—to talk about a range of issues. Past topics have included reproductive justice and abortion support work, women in union history, sex work during the pandemic, domestic violence response during the pandemic, childcare, trans women in politics, women in the music industry, and much much more.
