"I remember the first time I heard ELP's "Pirates". I was traveling north on Porter Avenue in Norman Oklahoma with Scott (All Bass Radio) and some other friends when "Pirates" actually came on the radio. It was early evening as we made our way up Porter Avenue in Scott's car. Central Junior High, where Scott and I met, was just a block away. (Scott played Cello in the orchestra, I played violin) 'Now that's more like it!' I thought to myself. 'Someone actually did a good job of putting an orchestra together with a rock band!'. The impression of this stays with me even today some 40 years later."
