Episode 5: Elana Pirtle-Guiney

Elana Pirtle-Guiney is a mom, a wife, and one of three Councilors representing District 2 - North and NE Portland. Her background as a labor organizer and communicator with the AFL-CIO, and in legislative affairs for Governor Kate Brown, led her to serve as Portland's first City Council President under a new form of government which launched in 2024. She and Caitlin talked about how the city serves working class Portlanders, and reflected on the Your City, Your Choice Survey data, particularly on those earning less than $50,000 annually feeling represented by the City Council.
