FORTUNE RECORDS was founded by Devora and Jack Brown in Detroit in the late 1940s with the aim to build a platform to showcase the songwriting of Devora Brown. But don't dismiss it as a vanity project. Through Fortune Records & it’s subsidiaries, Devora helped to shape Detroit’s mid century record industry by providing opportunities for future legends in multiple musical genres: Nolan Strong & the Diablos, John Lee Hooker, Kenny Burrell, The Davis Sisters (featuring Skeeter Davis), Eddie Kirkland, and Andre Williams with whom she collaborated in songwriting numerous times.
