Respected LadyLand - Girls Gone Gay!

Another in my "Gone Girls" series. This episode is called Girls Gone GAY! featuring women mid century musicians who were queer.

I've made probably at least a dozen LGBTQ-centric radio shows over the years, but I think this might be the first one featuring all women.

Gender and sexual identity are nuanced.  I have to acknowledge that if the people featured on this episode had lived in our current era, perhaps some of them would identify differently (not as women?). 

 I’ve wondered a few times in recent years if an episode focusing on LGBTQ musicians is even necessary in this era of greater representation and acceptance. Is it even appropriate for me to be highlighting people's queerness these days?  With an increase in younger people identifying as non-binary and queer, is the queerness of people in the past even of public interest?  In other words, does it even matter any more?  

Ultimately I've concluded that as long as there are opponents of LGBTQ human rights, the topic of the contributions of LGBTQs to our society will remain relevant.
