Episode 143: Fund Drive Pop Instrumentals

12:00pm, 5-1-2022
<< Tropicology

I have lined up some of my favorite Tropical instrumentals today, music with no lyrics. You may hear occasional shouts from the band, or even a single line repeated a couple times, but no lyrics you could print on a record sleeve, these are intended to be songs without a singer. Longtime listeners know that I drop in jazzy sounds a fair amount on this show, but that is not what I am doing today… I am specifically avoiding jazz to focus on pop instrumentals, the Tropical equivalents for songs like Tequila or Apache, bands like the Meters or Booker T and the MGs. I’m kicking it off with a pair of rousing forro instrumentals from northeastern Brazil. This is Spring Fund Drive 2022 pop instrumentals from Tropicology.
