Tropicology - Episode 123: Tropical Top 100 Part 2

I have started a series that will run through the end of this year and into early next year. This theme was inspired by my strong reaction to the new Rolling Stone magazine list of the top songs of all time… I hated that list, but I was inspired to make a list covering my own beat of tropical music. The result is the official Tropicology list of the one hundred greatest songs from Africa, Brazil, and Latin America. Today we are going to be hearing the second episode counting down my top songs… episode one covered songs 100 to 74, this episode will count from number 73 down to number 46. I have not ranked these songs one by one; instead I have sorted the songs by sonic profile, so that tracks play well alongside their neighbors to create enjoyable playlists. Episode 1 covered my favorite tropical songs with country rootsy sounds… today I am flipping that coin to present my favorite songs with a more jazzy uptown vibe. And it is the second Sunday in December, so at the end of the show I will be sharing my end of year thoughts on the topic of race and policing in our country.
