Cheers!

Today’s episode will be a full hour highlighting the music of one of America’s finest songwriters - Hoagy Carmichael.

Hoagy wrote hundreds of songs and many many of them became mega hits, beginning in the 1930’s in pan alley. Early on, Carmichael took advantage of new technologies, especially the electrical microphone, sound amplification, and advances in recording and was an industry trailblazer, who recorded varied interpretations of his own songs and provided material for many other musicians to interpret.

Through the years, he teamed up with some of the most legendary lyricists and together wrote some of the most enduring and beautiful songs performed by countless artists in radio, stage, television, and on the big screen.

He is a big-time contributor to the American Songbook!
