Episode 62: Moment of Zen

<< Tropicology

I am dialing up a special show theme today because this has been a special time in the Portland Oregon area. I hope that by the time this episode airs on Sunday we will have cleared the air in Portland, but as of the time this show is being recorded we are still locked in this dense cloud of wildfire smoke. For over a week now Portland has had the worst air quality of any major city in the world, making it entirely unpleasant to be outside for any amount of time at all. In any other year that could be a tolerable situation for the short term, but this year of course that stress is compounded with our ongoing anguish related to Coronavirus, the Trump presidency, and our country’s continuing struggle with racial justice issues. I know I am not alone in saying I feel a little stressed out.

In light of all this stress, I am taking today’s show in a different direction. The theme of today’s episode is Moment of Zen, because we could all use one about now. Today I am combining some nice chill out tracks from a few new records in my crates with a mix of other zen inducing sounds from across my collection… we will hear mostly Brazil today, but there will also be some groovy domestic jazz in the mix, along with a few surprises.
