What's Next for Portland State? A Conversation with President Shoureshi
Join us as we meet Rahmat Shoureshi, the ninth President of Portland State University. President Shoureshi will sit down with Tim Nesbitt to discuss PSU's role in the state's education mix, how PSU can increase access for students of all ages, opportunities for research and innovation at PSU, and how the University can strengthen its partnerships across the region.

Rahmat Shoureshi
Dr. Rahmat Shoureshi (pronounced Shoe-re-she) is an experienced administrator and innovative academic who considers his work with students his greatest accomplishment. He brings to PSU nearly four decades of academic experience, a record of expanding research opportunities, and a history of inspiring faculty collaboration. A mechanical engineer who earned a master’s degree and a doctorate from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Shoureshi is an expert in automation, control systems design, and artificial intelligence. He holds nine U.S. patents for biomedical and engineering systems, sensors and devices, and has authored more than 250 technical publications. He joins the university after six years as provost and interim president of the New York Institute of Technology.
Tim Nesbitt
Tim Nesbitt is a public policy consultant and past chair of Oregon’s Higher Education Coordinating Commission. A former labor leader in Oregon, he is a contributing columnist for The Oregonian and served as an advisor to Oregonians for High School Success in the successful campaign for Measure 98 in 2016.
