Night School: Special Guests Danny Holloway & Allen Thayer - September 29, 2017
Tonight on Night School we welcome living legend, Danny Holloway. He’s joined by special guest host, Allen Thayer, of Wax Poetics.
In the early 1970s, Danny worked for NME covering acts like David Bowie, Stevie Wonder, and The Rolling Stones. There he introduced reggae music to the UK through several feature articles. He would later land a gig at Island Records, producing The Heptones; recording Bob Marley; and contributing to records by the Meters, Jimmy Cliff, and the Maytals. He also brought to the label a soundtrack for “Reservoir Dogs” and a little known act called N.W.A.
For decades, Danny’s been DJing from his massive collection. He’s held a longtime residency with Dublab in Los Angeles. His current label, Ximeno Records, reissues rare Jamaican tunes.
