She never knew her father, and her mother diverted her studies into math and sciences in hopes that Ada would avoid his poetical inclinations. Instead, Ada fused her influences into what she called “poetical science,” her expression for finding the art and beauty in mathematics. At the age of twelve, determined to fly, she began constructing wings, documenting her studies in the book Flyology.
